Art & Design
A house that keeps company with makers
Objects chosen slowly, and kept for what they carry.
Our regard for the island
Bali has always been an island of hands — carvers, weavers, silversmiths, painters who learned the craft before they learned to sign their names.
The estate was built among those workshops, and it has stayed among them. We commission from people we know, we buy from studios we have visited, and we keep the pieces where they are looked at every day rather than locked away. Nothing here is decoration bought by the catalogue. Every object arrived because someone in the family stopped in front of it and could not leave.

The private collection
Held at the estate, shown by appointment
Alongside the pieces that furnish the house, we keep a small private collection — paintings, sculptures and ceremonial objects by artists living and working on the island. It is not a gallery and there is nothing to browse online.
Guests who would like to see it may ask the concierge, and we will lay the works out for a quiet preview at the estate, at whatever hour suits you. Pieces may be purchased privately; we will arrange valuation, paperwork and shipping, and speak directly with the artist's studio on your behalf.
A quiet preview
From the collection

The full collection is shown in person, by appointment.
Design notes
Materials left close to how the island made them
Carved teak
Doors, screens and headboards cut by family workshops, finished by hand rather than sprayed.
Stone & earth
Volcanic stone, lime plaster and clay floors, chosen to weather quietly instead of staying new.
Cloth & clay
Hand-thrown vessels and handwoven linen, replaced when they wear and never copied in bulk.
Commissions & visits
If something finds you, we will help it home
We are happy to walk you through a studio visit, introduce an artist, or have a piece made for your own house. Most of it begins with a message and a cup of coffee at the long table.
